The Outdoor Foundation and USA Weekend Magazine Launch Make A Difference Day Grant Program

The Outdoor Foundation and USA Weekend Magazine have partnered together to offer a new charitable grant program that encourages and rewards projects that successfully get youth outdoors and active.

Tied to the annual Make A Difference Day, the largest national day of volunteer service, the award will give a $1,500 donation to one volunteer's chosen charity in recognition of a project that inspires kids to take part in outdoor activities, gets them to connect with nature or teaches them the health benefits of being outside.

How to Apply

To be considered and counted among the millions of volunteers, visit the Make a Difference Day section of USA Weekend. Interested individuals should fill out an entry form after completing the Make A Difference Day project and share how the volunteer experience connected youth with the outdoors. Entries must be submitted by November 17, 2008. The selected project will be spotlighted in an April 2009 edition of USA Weekend, coinciding with National Volunteer week.

Individuals may include photos and other materials that help tell the story. Materials can't be returned and may be used in promotions or editorial. Participating volunteers will receive confirmation of the project entry in February 2009.
