The Active Outdoor Recreation Report, Bicycling
The Active Outdoor Recreation Economy, a new report by the Outdoor Industry Foundation, estimates the economic contribution of active outdoor recreation (bicycling, camping, fishing, hunting, paddling, snow sports, wildlife viewing, and trail- trail-running, hiking, climbing) to the US economy. The report is more than just a tally of industry gear sales. It includes travel-related expenditures and recreation's indirect economic contribution. The study is comprehensive - nearly 14,000 interviews were conducted to understand recreation's role in our economy.

Focusing specifically on bicycling, this sub-study is excerpted from the research contributing to the full Active Outdoor Recreation Economy report. It focuses on 9 regions across the country.
